LIGHT &DARK

In the yogic view, it is oppositions that actually shows us how to find balance. The concept of duality is introduced as sun & moon within the body (Yoga Pradipika). The ultimate aim of yoga practice is to dissolve this opposition & allow our energy to be unify. Yoga is by definition ‘to yoke’ body&mind&spirit. The goal is finding true balance - choosing behavior& thoughts that favor neither light&dark, good nor bad, up or down, lazy &energetic.

Pema Chodron shares this so eloquently:

“Life is glorious, but life is also wretched. It is both. Appreciating the gloriousness inspires us, encourages us, cheers us up, gives us a bigger perspective, energizes us. We feel connected. On the other hand, wretchedness--life's painful aspect--softens us up considerably. Knowing pain is very important . But if we were only wretched, we would all just go down the tubes. Gloriousness &wretchedness need each other. One inspires us, the other softens us. They go together.”

Yesterday, Isaiah told me : ‘Mommy, Tommy is talking to your pain’ . It is difficult not to be tormented (?), perplexed(?), comforted (?) even. But as a yogi, I bring my hands together, in Anjali mudra & I seal life gloriousness & wretchedness at the center of my body, my heart. At this moment I have found peace, at this moment Thomas is alive-in my heart. #TommyTinkerForever #whathealsyourheart#captureyourgrief
